Christmas Mining
Yes, it’s been a long…long time. An eternity in blog terms. Meh, whattya gunna do?
It’s Christmas time, meaning most worship folks are up to their $*&% in alligators, as they say. (They do say that, right?) Time for too much busyness, and lots of debate over how we worship corporately this time of year – carols or no carols, that is the question! I love being part of that convo b/c I think discussing these things helps sharpen us all. I’m not going to get into it right now, but I did just want to share something that unexpectedly ruined me this year. One of those times you’ve sung something a million times and for some reason it just unpacks in your lap and wrecks you out of nowhere. It was this:
Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our Heavenly Lord
Who hath made heav’n and earth of naught
and with His blood mankind hath bought
Yeah, there’s some sentimental nonsense amid the herd of carols. I was reminded this year that gems always take a little mining to find.
Merry Christmas!
